KMA Culture

Image
What is the culture of our school? The KMA Culture is immersing yourself into, and living The KMA Lifestyle...  Ok, now what is The KMA Lifestyle?  The KMA lifestyle is living YOUR dream.  Living life to it's fullest. Living Clean, Fighting Dirty. Striving to be as healthy and fit as you can, while balancing that with knowing that life is short.  Never being a bully, yet never letting anyone take your lunch money.  Being smart enough to know that you, and only you are responsible for your safety, security and comfort, yet being humble enough to admit that no man is an island.  Knowing that no matter how busy, or stressed you are,  there is always time to help an old lady cross the street or patting a dog, enjoy the journey.  Train super hard, for we are the protectors of ourselves, our families, and most other people in this world, who are just too weak and lazy to be KMA Mat Monsters.  Make time to spen...

Age is no excuse!

Check out 72 year old Mario in action Super Mario at KMA Video Being healthy and fit is a goal which a lot of people work hard towards achieving. However, some may give up hope and put this goal aside because of the stress and sacrifices which come along with being healthy and fit. However, some people use creative and manageable methods, such as martial arts to help them achieve their goals. Here is an article on how to get fit using martial arts https://goo.gl/1aqjgC www.MartialArtsForLife.com.au

Ban the word bored!

Image
Bored is an excuse.. It's an easy  way to blame others  for your personal  weakness providing  a reason to quit. Take responsibility for  not having the grit to persevere & succeed. The word "bored" is a cop out &  should be banned! KMA Kids link

Kids & School Study

Image
I will pull my child out from martial arts to study! Wow.. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard this over the years  and its flawed on so many levels. It will give  them more time to focus ? Absolutely not! Your child is not going to study  from the moment they get home to the time they go to bed. They will not study  all weekend either. They will be less tired? Energy  builds energy. Fitter people are not only stronger they are more focused and mentally tougher. Click on the YouTube  clip and find out more.. https://youtu.be/BDZnR2OG8r4 www.MartialArtsForLife.com.au

Age is No an excuse

Image
The power of martial  arts is just amazing ... My oldest  student to test for black was 69, now a 2nd degree we call him Super Mario and is well into his 70's. On the other end how young is too young? Mikalya appeared on national tv and there is no one more confident  and motivated tgan this young girl.. Check out the YouTube  clip where she performed  without hesitation. All children have amazing potential , all they need is the opportunity! #1 My kids need more time to study - Parents take note

Image
#1 Fallacy Pulling your kids out of martial  arts will give them  more time  to focus on study and school? As well  intentioned parents maybe  this  is the biggest single mistake any parent could make without a doubt! It's well documented  the benefits of good exercise...martial arts takes that exercise to another level developing habits for  life such as Focus, Discipline  and the "will" to succeed! Yes  they need to "harden" up. Do you not think  your child  needs these attributes  to succeed academically? After 41 years of teaching I have zero doubt the the best students  in martial arts all became great students  in study..its No coincidence A good martial arts school is part of your child's  study  success formula www.MartialArtsForLife.com.au

Don't let fear stand in the way of a great result

Image
I don't  want to watch matches where fighters are so afraid to lose they avoid the fight or simply hold and stall with no plan or motivation to take the fight to them. I love it when MMA fighters or when two BJJ competitors with the potential and ability to put on a hell of a show deliver and really do amazing stuff..everyone congratulations the loser as much as the winner!  So if you are going to compete then dam well go for it!  Losses happen like it or not so let people see what you can do. It's an old cliche  but it's so true  "fortune favours the brave"....  You will create more chances and you will win the crowd and feel so much better knowing YOU gave it your all. I teach my students to believe in themselves and conquer  their fears...in every fight and in every day of their lives. There is nothing worse than choking with fear and not letting fly with your abilities; deciding your destiny and the result is so much better t...

Who is important to you?

I don't have time ?

Image
This would have to be the biggest excuse in world...actually it's more than an excuse,it's a lie! What is eating your time? Every minute you waste is a minute you never get back..so you are either a master of your time or a time waster. Last but not least you do not have to go 100 km's an hour or jam pack your day to make the most of it, in fact I do the opposite. " Master Fari why do you walk so slow" my young student stated...why do I walk so slow? It is because I do not want to hurry and miss anything! Control your time, make time...avoid the phrase "I don't have time" Those that don't have time will soon realise THEY don't have time to accomplish everything they choose to accomplish in life.  www.MartialArtsForLife.com.au

Just another excuse?

Image
Avoid the  phrase  I don't have time... "will help you realise you don't have time needed for just about everything you choose to accomplish in life" 2012 is My 30th year of teaching and you can only imagine the excuses I have heard over this amazing journey! I don't have time has to be up there and YES it is just another excuse. If there is a will there is always a way...if you did not have time to stop for fuel what would happen to you car? But that's different I hear you say? Your body is your car, your vehicle for life and so many don't have time, what is scary I have seen many have a major health scare and all of a sudden they find time to change their lifestyle habits. They are the lucky ones; for some it's just too late.....moral of the story? Stop making excuses and make positive life changes when in good health to maintain and improve it...let it be YOU to decide your lifestyle choices not your unfortunate circumstances!

Train to Never Quit!

Image
I had a chance to meet up with Master Reyes,he certainly is a shining example of "training to never quit". So why bother going to 7th dan? As well as challenging myself I have to sincerely say its all about my students. There is nothing I ask of them that I would not do myself and that includes training and working towards my next level. Is it about the belt? Certainly not, its about sharpening the sword, it's about constant and never ending improvement, it's about growth and inspiration which quite frankly cannot be shown by simply wearing a belt. Last but not least its about the training, I aim for my students and my industry peers to see and know I am active and always working.Winning respect and self respect is everything to me. Its almost 30 years in the making so its something that did not happen over night.....infact as I reflect I am amazed at all the things I have been through and how quickly it has gone. Now it's time to enjoy th...

It's all about respect

Image
"No one cares how much you know , they want to know how much you care" No truer words have been spoken! The martial arts industry is filled with some great people, its also filled with some arrogance as a result of their level of black belt or their fighting record.Who cares? I don't care if you can kick my butt or if you have never had a fight at all, everyone deserves respect. www.MartialArtsForLife.com.au Why would you want to spend time with or worse still spend money on such people! Filling your life with the right kind of people is essential, for me I am very protective to ensure I have a peaceful and stress free life. If They don't make the grade its simple just ignore and isolate those that want to drain your energy like blood sucking vampires. This is my first line of self defence, saying "No" to those vampires. Love life, love martial arts!

My First Blog

Image
It's 2005 My first blog. Having started journal entries for the ultimate Black Belt Test I have decided to re start them. As a father, head of a school, martial arts organisation and supplier of martial arts goods my duties are many and varied. It may not be of interest to everyone but at the very least it will prove a tool for me to look back on. " Ever since I was a child I have this instinctive urge for expansion and growth"  To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of ones potential. Bruce Lee's quote pretty much describes who I am and my mission in life. www.MartialArtsForLife.com.au
